FF1: White Mage Run Complete

White Mages were rough… until we beat the Piscodemons. That seems to be a pretty common refrain for every class, isn’t it? Here’s the Final Fantasy I challenge playlist.

So, how hard was the White Mage trip through the Pixel Remaster?

Everything was easy, except for the Piscodemons and… no. That’s it. Astos required a few cast of Silence, then hammer beat down. Lich required some castings of Dia-whatever. We went to get Kraken next so we’d have Giants Gloves… and then he died. Then we went to Tiamat so we’d have the White Robe… and Tiamat died. Then… poor Marilith. Just… just hammered. Then we did it all again in the Chaos shrine. Between Full Life, Protera/Invisira and Null All for the White Mage without a Ribbon, Chaos was just a long, boring slog. We even had time to drop a few Holy casts in to speed it up, that’s how easy it was. Yeah. If you can make it through the Piscodemons and remember you don’t have to do the fiends in order, White Mages are a breeze.

Lelias: HP 533 / STR 17 / AGI 16 / STA 17 / INT 43 / LCK 20

Red Mages at 42 (Protect, Haste AND Temper? The Best Of All Worlds… Except Excalibur):

Rouge: HP 452 / STR 19 / AGI 23 / STA 24 / INT 24 / LCK 18
Red: HP 444 / STR 20 / AGI 25 / STA 21 / INT 25 / LCK 19
Carmine: HP 421 / STR 22 / AGI 23 / STA 20 / INT 25 / LCK 22
Rose: HP 439 / STR 24 / AGI 21 / STA 20 / INT 24 / LCK 23

Looking at the comparative stats, you can see that the best determination of what makes an easy run is HP. That’s why Red Mages needed Level 42, to get that last guaranteed HP growth to push them out of being killed by back-to-back Chaos spells. STR and AGI really don’t matter thanks to the Masamune, Haste, Temper and the Giant’s Gloves. INT and STA are pretty much unimportant for anyone but Monks. LCK and INT don’t scale to any useful value. The second most important stat? Magic Defense (again, to survive back-to-back Chaos spells.) A stat you can’t even see.

That’s FF1 for you. Anyway, on to Fighters.
